The General Director of COPARMEX Jalisco tells us all about it!
Virginia Romero is the first woman to lead Coparmex in Jalisco, 85 years after the institution was founded. She is committed to the common good and social progress. She sees companies as agents of change, which is why she has collaborated for more than seventeen years in business organizations. From this position she has promoted initiatives to diagnose and implement action plans in companies that allow them to have a positive impact on sustainable development.
- What have been the most important challenges in your professional life?
Throughout my professional life there have been many challenges, without hesitation I would say that the most important challenge I have faced is to lead Coparmex Jalisco, being the first woman in charge of this position, having to break many paradigms, and stereotypes.
Coparmex Jalisco is a solid business organization with more than 85 years of foundation, so leading it has been more than a challenge, it has been an honor that has brought me many satisfactions; the first of them, to meet and learn from extraordinary people who want to make a difference for Mexico. It has been wonderful to be able to work together so that companies can achieve social progress through inclusive economic development. The satisfaction, more than personal, is collective.
There are many people working so that advocacy does not remain a message or good intentions. The participation of Coparmex and of those of us who are in charge of decision making is aimed at generating changes with actions and proposals always looking for the common good, progress and putting people at the center.
- What projects or plans do you have for the future?
To continue influencing projects and initiatives that contribute to a more prosperous, fair and equitable environment, where people can have more and better opportunities.
- Can you share a tip, habit or advice that you follow in your professional life?
Of course! It has worked for me to do with passion everything I have undertaken, always being congruent, with a deep commitment and discipline. In addition to this, I believe that in order to achieve professional goals, it is essential to seek a balance in the different dimensions of life: physical, emotional, spiritual, social, etc. To conclude, I would say that there are no magic recipes. What has worked for me does not mean that it will work for someone else, that is why self-knowledge is fundamental.
